First of all, executive coaching is certainly not about the client sitting back to hear the coach provide advice and answers.
It is a partnership through which a creative process inspires the client to maximise their personal and professional potential, with very strong focus on self-directed growth towards increased confidence and resourcefulness.
Is it worth the investment? Well, a recent Metrix Global study found that executive coaching has a 788% return on investment (ROI) based on factors including increases in productivity and employee retention (Forbes, 27/7/23).
Can you think of any other investment that could provide this kind of return?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) reports that executive coaching typically provides:
· 70% increase in individual performance
· 50% increase in team performance
· 48% increase in organisational performance
Second point is that coaching is not the same as training (many organisations do provide substantial training for their leaders and staff but very little, if any, coaching). Organisations that offer training alone experience a 22% increase in productivity, but when they combine it with coaching, that figure rises to 88% (Gerald Olivero, Denise Bane & Richard Kopelman, Public Personnel Management).
That is why at Equitive we are passionate about coaching. We have seen and personally experienced its benefits.
